100 WC Week 1 - The Lullaby

As we snuggled in our beds, like baby magpies in their nests, we settled to sleep. Suddenly the bedroom door started to creep open. The familiar feeling of dread filled our tummies as we squeezed our eyes tightly to feign sleep; but our feeble attempts were to no avail. We had been spotted!

The lampshade reached out and laughed its’ cruel and evil laugh at us. As it was unavoidable we resigned ourselves to inevitable and so it began…and just as quickly the noise stopped. We vowed that we would send Mum to singing lessons so the lullaby each night would be at least bearable.

There is quite a strong feeling of suspense in this piece. Who or what is coming through the door?

Could you personify the shadows which were cast by the lamp?
Flickering shadows grinned/leered as we suffered an unimaginable tormet.
