The doors are released! The caged hoards were unleashed, desperate for their freedom. Climbing, clambering, chasing, and stampeding like a herd of spooked wildebeest they rode rough shot over the open plains. Rangers watched, on high alert, with their only salvation a whistle and time piece hoping their presence will go unnoticed. Circling the outskirts of the playground the guardians hoped their ordeal would soon be over.
A last glance at the watch and the whistle screamed to announce time is up! The stampede began again as the children formed their expected lines... and then the noise stopped. Peace returned and the next lesson can begin.

ReplyDeleteThe extended metaphor idea for a playtime was an effective idea. I can really imagine the scene of the children being unleashed

There could be some small vocabulary tweaks. Would it be better to have the whistle as their only 'protection'? Maybe wild horses/buffalo would be more consistent with the metaphor than wildebeest.
